The Solar Studios are a solar powered lab and exhibition space launched by Lina Dib at Rice University in 2017. Through processes of research/creation and thinking through making artists/researchers at the Solar Studios perform experiments in sustainability, art, and technology. In short, the Solar Studios are a collaborative residency, a hub for creative thinking about living systems, where we – invited artists, the public at large and Rice students – engage problems to do with art and the environment.
The JuiceBOX units at the solar studios were designed by META Lab. The Solar Studios are supported by Rice University Strategic Initiatives and the Center for Energy and Environmental Research in the Human Sciences (CENHS).
